A nod to Hattie

The inspiration to keep a blog came directly via anamazing young lady named Harriet Rowland. Harriet was a pupil of my Mum’s foryears and so when she was diagnosed with cancer at 18 years of age, she starteda blog which I followed for two years. Some of the things she wrote about willstay with me. There is an urgency that comes when you know you don’t have longon the planet and it’s in every page of her blog.

The blog went on to become a book and I was luckyenough to accompany my mum to the launch where I got to meet Harriet in person.I felt as tongue tied as a teenage girl meeting Harry Styles.

Her experience of “walking her dog” gave me hope andinspiration every week when I would check into her blog. Sometimes she had alot to say and at other times she was out there doing life and there would besome space between blogs.

She was an incredible young lady who I only knew viathe pages of her blog and yet she made me fall in love with her.

Below is a link to her blog “My experience of walkingthe dog” as well as a couple of articles about her journey.
