Someone recently dropped off two signs to the op shop. They are the kind that come with a bunch of letters so that you can say anything you like on them. It’s allowed me to have one at the shop and one at home and I’ll change them over each week. We can now easily tell people about upcoming sales etc but when we are not doing that, I can use it for quotes. This has made me very happy!
I have always adored quotes and I’m one of those annoying people who actually use motivational cards. I believe in speaking things into existence and I also think that what we put into ourselves usually comes back out in some way or another. Anyway, I have been going through my LONG list of favourite quotes, some are way too wordy for the sign but some will work well.
I’ve chosen “you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing” for this week’s one. It’s so true and yet we never really believe that do we? Very few people wander about telling themselves they are amazing and sadly those that do are often not quite as amazing as they think. I could produce for you a long list of amazing people I know but I doubt they see themselves that way.
While going through my list I came upon the “poem” from the fabulous movie The Shape of Water. If you have not seen this movie please give it a watch - it’s just weirdly beautiful. I put the word poem in italics because it’s not technically a poem as such. It was written specifically for the movie with a bit of a nod to a number of very old texts. More info can be found here if your interested https://blogs.loc.gov/catbird/2018/03/who-wrote-the-poem-at-the-end-of-the-shape-of-water/
This is the poem -
Unable to perceive the shape of You,
I find You all around me.
Your presence fills my eyes with Your love,
It humbles my heart,
For You are everywhere
It sums up perfectly how I feel about God - enveloped by His presence and love.
When I feel surrounded by the world and the walls are closing in - I am in reality surrounded by Him. I need to remember that.
