Walk the line

When I first became a Christian I thought that God was all about rules and regulations. The Old Testament God was frankly terrifying to me and I was very pleased to hear there was another half of the bible with a much softer main character, Jesus.

However, I still spent thirty odd years believing that God cared about all the rules and that if I broke any of them then I was done for.  He doesn’t.

It’s taken me three decades to work out how ridiculously simple it all is. Jesus left us with two jobs, just two - no more or less.

He asked us to love the creator first and to love ourselves and others.

Not so hard, is it? Yeah, I know they are two of the hardest things to get right but my point is that there are only TWO.

Stop worrying about the fine print, the red tape or the paperwork.  God could care less about any of that - He just wants us to love Him and then to love others.

It’s worth a shot.
